Privacy Policy
Effective: May 6, 2026
BassRadar (“BassRadar,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is built and operated by Clutch Click. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the BassRadar iOS application (the “App”), how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have. By using BassRadar, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Account information
BassRadar uses Sign in with Apple for authentication. When you sign in, Apple provides us with a unique identifier and, depending on the option you choose, your name and an Apple-relayed email address. We do not receive your Apple ID password.
1.2 Fishing-spot locations you save
When you save a fishing spot, we store the latitude/longitude you select, the name you give it, and any associated metadata (e.g., whether notifications are enabled for that spot). You can save up to ten spots per account. You can delete a saved spot at any time from the App.
1.3 Catch log entries
When you log a catch, we store the information you choose to enter: photo (optional), weight, length, lure name, location, notes, the date/time, and a snapshot of the weather conditions at the moment of logging. Photos are stored using Firebase Storage. Catch entries are scoped to your account and are not shared with other users.
1.4 Device and usage data
We collect basic technical and usage information that helps us run the service reliably, including device model, iOS version, app version, crash reports, and aggregate feature-usage counts. We do not collect contacts, the photo library beyond images you explicitly attach to a catch, or data from other apps.
1.5 Push notification token
If you enable bite-window alerts, iOS issues a push token to BassRadar. We use this token solely to deliver the alerts you have asked for and retain it until you disable notifications or delete your account.
1.6 Subscription information
Purchases happen through Apple. Apple provides us with the receipt information needed to verify your subscription status (via RevenueCat). We do not see your payment-card details, billing address, or full Apple ID.
2. How we use your information
- To compute your daily BiteRating and 16-day forecast for each saved spot.
- To generate the AI Fishing Intel and Pattern Predictor outputs based on the conditions for your saved spots.
- To deliver bite-window push notifications when a saved spot meets your threshold.
- To store and display your catch log, achievements, and Angler Tier progress on your devices.
- To verify and manage your subscription and entitlements.
- To diagnose crashes and bugs, and to make the App more reliable.
- To respond to support requests, comply with legal obligations, and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Third-party services we rely on
BassRadar uses the following service providers. We share only the minimum data needed for each to do its job. None of them sell or rent your information.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, push notification delivery (APNs), iCloud (only if you choose to use system-level iCloud features).
- Google Firebase (Google LLC) — Authentication, Firestore database for your saved spots and catches, Cloud Storage for catch photos, and Crashlytics for crash diagnostics.
- Open-Meteo — Weather, geocoding, marine, and astronomy data used as inputs to the BiteRating engine. Open-Meteo receives anonymous coordinate queries with no user identifiers.
- OpenRouter — Routes prompts to large-language-model providers used by the AI Fishing Intel feature. Prompts contain only weather/condition data and the curated catalog selections; they do not contain your name, email, or precise account identifiers.
- RevenueCat — Subscription state management. Receives a pseudonymous user identifier and Apple receipt data.
4. Location data
BassRadar requests location permission only to (a) help you place a new spot at your current position and (b) feed your saved-spot coordinates into the BiteRating engine. The App does not track your location in the background, does not record movement traces, and does not sell location data. You can revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings; saved spots will continue to work using the coordinates you previously entered.
5. Children
BassRadar is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@bassradar.app and we will delete it.
6. Data retention
We retain account data, saved spots, catch logs, and push tokens for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account from within the App, we permanently delete your saved spots, catches, photos, and push token within 30 days. Aggregated, de-identified metrics (e.g., total daily BiteRating computations) may be retained indefinitely.
7. Your rights and choices
- Access & deletion: You can review and delete individual spots, catches, and photos directly in the App. To delete your entire account and all associated data, use the Delete Account option in Settings or email us at support@bassradar.app.
- Notifications:Turn off bite-window alerts in the App or in iOS Settings > Notifications > BassRadar.
- Location:Manage in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > BassRadar.
- Marketing: BassRadar does not send marketing email or push notifications. Bite-window alerts are transactional and tied to a saved spot you control.
8. California, EEA, UK, and other jurisdictions
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — for example, the right to access, correct, port, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@bassradar.app. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.
9. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including TLS encryption in transit, access controls, and Firebase security rules to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; however, we work hard to protect your data.
10. International transfers
BassRadar is operated from the United States, and our service providers may process data in the U.S. and other countries. Where required, we rely on standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll notify you in the App or by updating the “Effective” date above. Continued use of BassRadar after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
